The vibe: Tsim Sha Tsui's reputation as the poorer half of the city for swanky nightlife is slowly changing. Cocky Bar, despite its unappealing name, is one of the reasons why. The 18th-floor alfresco terrace (right) with panoramic views of the Hong Kong skyline and Kowloon is its drawcard, although it can become too windy for comfort as there's few tall buildings nearby. Inside is compact and typically modern with dark surfaces and glowing lights. The clientele is more mixed and relaxed than you'll find at Island rivals such as Sevva.
The drinks: Cocky's cocktails (HK$90, HK$50 during happy hour until 8pm) are creative and well-made. This is a cocktail kind of place. The Mikado blends fresh pineapple, starfruit juice, raspberry juice and vodka in a refreshing fruity mix on hot nights. The martini list (same price) is excellent. The sour apple martini has a crisp bite of fresh green apple. There is also a decent range of reds and whites by the glass. The bar's own yakitori station fires up crispy, flavourful skewers of oysters, veggies and prime beef and lamb (HK$20-HK$95).
