TER maintains legacy in global distribution of chemicals

When Klaus Westphal passed on to his son Christian the overall management of TER Group during its centennial in 2008, he left the younger Westphal with big shoes to fill.
From a humble trading and distribution company, TER has grown in Asia alongside small European chemical manufacturers by helping them distribute their products overseas.
The new CEO, representing the group's third generation of family management, did not disappoint the company. Since his appointment, global sales have grown by about 50 per cent.
Christian Westphal has maintained TER's global standing as one of the most trusted suppliers of chemicals, serving 11 focus industries from plastics additives and construction to personal care and food.
"We've achieved our success hand-in-hand with clients and suppliers," says Oliver Zimmermann, CEO of TER Chemicals Distribution Group. "We've overcome business challenges by nurturing better relationships with our clients."
With a network of 30 companies worldwide and experience serving more than 180 product groups, TER supplies the best chemical portfolio that clients require. For its sourcing partners, the company ensures prompt payment of invoices given its triple-A financial rating.
The group is represented in Asia by offices in Hong Kong, Qingdao and Suzhou, which is also home to associate company Paramelt, a global producer of wax blends, adhesives and speciality chemicals since 1898.
"We're expanding our portfolio in Asia by finding new players who'll fit into what we're doing," Zimmermann says. "With our regional office in Hong Kong and its managing director Peter Lok, we're more than happy to welcome new partners from China, as we've come to better understand their culture and needs."
"We foresee China to be the leading growth engine in Asia in the next five years," Lok says. "We're expanding our local commercial team, logistics support and product offerings to further strengthen our partnerships with local customers and suppliers."
